Pemphigoid
Pemphigoid is a rare autoimmune skin condition where the immune system attacks the skin, causing large, fluid-filled blisters. It mostly affects older adults and is not contagious. Symptoms include redness, itching, and tense blisters on the arms, legs, abdomen, or skin folds, sometimes with mouth sores. A dermatologist diagnoses pemphigoid through skin examination, biopsy, or blood tests. Pemphigoid treatment includes topical or oral steroids and immune-suppressing medicines for severe cases. Avoid scratching blisters, keep skin moisturized, and wear soft clothing. Consult a skin specialist promptly for timely diagnosis and treatment.
